Hypopituitarism is a rare condition in which your pituitary gland fails to produce one or more of its eight hormones, or doesn't produce enough of them. This can affect growth, blood pressure, and reproduction.
Pathophysiology
Damage to the pituitary gland (due to tumors, surgery, radiation, or head trauma) impairs the secretion of stimulating hormones (TSH, ACTH, FSH, LH, GH, Prolactin, Oxytocin, ADH). This leads to secondary failure of the target endocrine glands.

Diagnosis
Diagnosis requires baseline hormone testing (T4, Cortisol, Testosterone/Estrogen) combined with pituitary stimulating hormones (TSH, ACTH, FSH/LH). Dynamic stimulatory tests (e.g., Insulin Tolerance Test) may be needed. Pituitary MRI is standard.
